Unveiling the Metric Tunnel: A Unique Blend of Functionality and Aesthetic Appeal

Originally known for their film cameras, ARRI wanted to highlight their lighting systems and gismos at the exhibition. Cheuk Kin Chi took this as an inspiration and designed the Metric Tunnel, a light tunnel that not only showcases ARRI's products but also guides visitors through the exhibit. The central logo, placed at a slant towards the entrance, along with the main booth circulation, pulls people from the main entrance into and through the exhibit.

The Metric Tunnel's unique properties lie in its design informed by the circulation of visitors. The main element of the design is ARRI's newly unveiled light panel, which can be programmed to alter its colors automatically. The tunnel was designed to house the back portions of the panels, revealing only the light boxes, thus creating an immersive light experience for the visitors.

The 120 sqm exhibition, measuring 8m x 15m, was realized using ARRI's light panels. The design team, including Judith Ngan and Donte Dandridge, faced the challenge of creating a functional space to showcase ARRI's hero products while making it attractive and engaging for visitors. The result was a space that was both functional and fun, attracting visitors the moment they walked into the venue.

The initial design phase of the Metric Tunnel started in March 2018 and was displayed from June 26 to June 28, 2018. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
